Lecce

Lecce is called the “Florence of the South”, it is the capital of Salento and is only 12 km from the Adriatic Sea.

There is a lot of baroque influence that goes well with the local stone, particularly soft and crumbly, and that can be processed into refined cuts that can be appreciated especially in the facade of the Basilica Santa Croce and in Piazza Duomo that is overlooked by the Seminary Palace, the bishop and the bell tower. Not far away there is the Roman amphitheater near to the Sant’Oronzo square and the castle rebuilt by an order of Carlo V.
